Brother Knows Best – Advice from my Bro’

So my brother gives me the chat, you’re a good player but…

You’d be a far better player if you:

  1. Didn’t drink at the table
  2. Were more pleasant and less confrontational
  3. Didn’t bluff at all as you bluff too much
  4. Didn’t show any cards – this is a major loser play

Next tournament I am going to to heed his advice as it is good advice, I will endeavour to be more John Hesp and less like Phil Helmuth going forward.

Let’s see how it works out…

Goliath 2017 – Off to Coventry for yearly pilgramage

You can’t beat the Goliath in Coventry for fun and opportunity.  Last year they chopped 3 ways for £50K each and played on for £12K extra for the winner not bad for £120 entry. You’d be mad to miss it, last year I got it all wrong, you need to register at a Grosvenor casino before you travel to avoid being on an endless alternates list. I was slightly tilted and then played a flopped set of Queens dreadfully losing to the nut flush, I’m a better player now…

The 2016 Event saw 5,232 entries, creating a staggering £523,000 prize pool in the biggest live poker event in Europe. Hopefully this year will be even bigger.

£250K Gtd for a £120 buy-in endless runners and cash games galore…

Andrew Neeme – 72Bluff hat

I managed to get my 72 Bluff hat and glasses on Andrew Neeme’s Vlog, the dude wears it well.

Which was great hopefully I can get across the tables with him in the coming year. He comes across as such a great guy and makes a lovely couple with his girlfriend Busi who has a wonderful smile. If you haven’t seen his videos on YouTube check them out

they are some of the best content out there fun to watch and informative.

He covers the Las Vegas grind playing $5/$10 and $10/$20 cash, very addictive viewing.

If you want a set mail me at [email protected]

Congratulations to Scott Blumstein – Well deserved WSOP Main Event Winner

Finally got to the end of the WSOP, Scott Blumstein finally got the job done, he played really well and the deck was certainly stacked in his favour. Once again the final heads up opponent was far too passive despite having Doug Polk in his corner. Strangely Scott hit the decks hard and if his opponent had been more aggressive he may have lost earlier.

Haven’t watched this yet but should be interesting to see what advice/coaching Doug Polk gave…

There can be no greater pain than coming second in the WSOP Main Event.

I’m playing it next year and fully intend to take it down, heard it here first!

I’ll create a vision board with that tomorrow…

Mansour Matloubi – The only British player to win the WSOP Main Event 1990

Mansour Matloubi according to Wiki the only every British winner of the WSOP main event apparently playing under a Welsh flag, I wonder if I could track him down and interview him. He won it in 1990 the last winner to win under $1 Million and also made the final table in 1993 he is rumoured to  live in London I really should try to meet him, I’d love to hear his story. Great “Where are they now” article here which has an interesting link to Dave “Devil Fish” Uliott the new Poker Hall of Fame member. Hendon mob here

“WSOP Championship winner in 1990, Iranian born player that played under a Welsh flag when active and is now rumoured to reside in London. Has not played many high visibility tournaments in recent years, but is rumoured to still have a sharp game. Matloubi has the dubious honour of being involved on the losing end of an incredible pot played heads up with Stuey Ungar shortly after his WSOP win. Ungar called him down with Ten-high and won, leading Matloubi to cry ‘uncle’ and refused to play Ungar again.
(Simon Galloway Jan 2009)”

Mansour Matloubi is an Iranian-British professional poker player living in London.

Matloubi won the 1990 World Series of Poker Main Event, making him the first non-American to do so. He also made the final table of the 1993 Main Event, where he finished in fourth place. He was eliminated by the eventual winner, Jim Bechtel.

As of 2016, his total live tournament winnings exceed $2,010,000.[1] His 14 cashes at the WSOP account for $1,214,062 of those winnings.[2]

Wow 88 v AQs last 3 in WSOP

I can’t imagine how it must feel to get it in with 88 v AQ with 3 left at the WSOP final table.

Pollak has played great and has now been destroyed by a brutal flip when the Queen came out in the window to give Ott the hand.

WSOP Final Table Day 3

Couldn’t stop falling asleep last night, up this morning now ready to watch 5 hrs of my favourite sporting event.

Had a great night last night and was thrilled to see my Andrew Neeme wearing my 72Bluff poker brand on his Vblog. i must get busy with a shopping cart, I got a little stalled on my project.

I’ll add that to my task list for the coming week, still working on PLO but I struggle to count all the outs and see the dominations. I’ll get there it will just take some time, I need to play some $1 games and see what happens.

I’m picking Blumstein for the win…let’s see what happens…

Made it on Andrew Neeme’s Vlog

Up waiting for the last 3 of WSOP on PokerGo and find that Andrew Neeme has received my 72Bluff hat and glasses…must be a sign…back at the tables tomorrow.

Off to bed PokerGo keeps stalling and it’s 3 am I’ll catch it in the morning…

Still can’t get over Farha v Moneymaker now that was a final table!
